MSC enhance Asia – Europe network

Mediterranean Shipping Company announces plans to improve efficiency and optimise capacity on its Asia – Europe services

MSC is starting an initiative to optimise all of its Asia-Europe services. The changes, which will be implemented progressively over the coming months will include port combinations, vessel rotations and capacity deployment.

Since the launch of the new Asia – Europe network in January 2015, MSC has continually analysed its performance. As of May 2015, the Asia – North Europe trade was reported to be performing at 92.1% reliability*. The optimisation is expected to sustain and improve on this figure.

The analysis has allowed MSC to optimise the allocation of capacity among the services to meet current and anticipated demands. The average vessel size on the Condor service, which operates on the Asia – Europe trade, will be reduced from 9,500 TEU to 6,500 TEU.

The network changes apply equally to both 2M VSA partners and MSC anticipates the changes to be fully effective by the middle of Quarter 3 2015.

Revised rotations and full service details, which are subject to regulatory requirements, are currently being finalised. We will communicate these as soon as possible.
