General Cargo Networks: Strategic cooperation to ensure long-term and structural network security with 24plus and Online Systemlogistik

The panels of the two forwarding cooperations 24plus Systemverkehre GmbH & Co. KG and of Online Systemlogistik für Spedition und Service GmbH have agreed on a strategic cooperation to take advantage of synergies for both general cargo networks. The cooperation will cover all the topics of the back-office area. Both networks continue to operate independently under their brand names in the market.

The objectives of the strategic „cooperation of the two cooperations“ is to provide backup solutions in case of a withdrawal of one of the partners or temporary overload and to promote joint developments in the field of network infrastructure. In addition, the partners will work together in the development of products.

To facilitate this collaboration between the cooperations and the cooperation partners, IT processes, quality management and operational processes are to be matched in an exploratory phase. Further developments, especially in the field of information technology, shall be pushed as well by the two cooperations. Existing instruments should be used and further developed by both cooperation partners according to the „Best Practice“ principle in the future. The activities will be controlled by a joint steering committee, which will be filled shortly.

Already in the first exploratory phase between two cooperations first approaches for concrete projects became visible. Thus both parties are interested to work with European partners of each other in the short term, who would then be working for both cooperations. In the medium term, a collaboration with regional hubs is deemed possible. By bundling volumes both general cargo networks could increase their efficiency through jointly controlled and operated regional hubs.
