Romania: EUR 9 million new investments for Railport Arad

Railport Arad in Western Romania gets additional railway tracks and a new container crane for transports to and from Turkey

On November 10th, 2014 Trade Trans and Luka Koper signed the purchase agreement to take over 33,33% stocks in the company Railport Arad in Curtici. Thus Trade Trans has currently 2/3 shares and Rail Cargo Hungaria has 1/3 shares.

This takeover will allow for the expansion of the container terminal. With an investment of approximately EUR 9 million it will be possible to build 4 additional railway tracks with a length over 650 meters. Furthermore, a new container crane will be installed and the concrete surface will be increased by 26.000 m². This investment shall ensure that the terminal will be used as a hub for transports to and from Turkey.

Railport Arad S.R.L. is an independent private intermodal terminal in the Western part of Romania. The terminal is placed in the closest neighbourhood of the biggest border crossing railway station between Hungary and Romania, on the Pan-European corridor TEN IV. The facility is the most modern container terminal in the Western part of Romania.
