New chief executive for Wincanton

Adrian Colman is to take over as chief executive of Wincanton, following Eric Born’s decision to step down to take up the position of CEO for a global business outside of the logistics sector.

Colman, currently Wincanton’s group finance director, will take up the post on 1st August. He joined Wincanton in January 2013. He was previously group financial director of Psion plc and prior to that was group finance director at London City Airport.

Born joined Wincanton as chief operating officer in April 2009 from Gategroup, the onboard services provider to the passenger airline industry. He became chief executive in December 2010 tasked with driving organic growth, reducing debt and improving profitability.

Chairman Steve Marshall said: “The board is confident it has chosen a strong leader to take Wincanton forward. On behalf of the board, I also want to acknowledge the very significant contribution that Eric has made during his six years with the group. Wincanton has made considerable progress in recent years, and all of it under his leadership. When Eric steps down later in the year, he will leave with our thanks and best wishes for his future career.”
