New depot connects Austria with the Unifeeder network

Unifeeder A/S is expanding its multimodal activities in Austria. To facilitate the region’s growth, the company has opened a depot in Vienna to ensure a constant availability of 45’ palletwide containers for the local exporters.

Vienna’s geographic location, its great accessibility to the highway and rail connections make it an obvious and strategic location for the new depot. Part of Unifeeder’s strategy is to provide a price-competitive, multimodal alternative for the customers, as well as ensure a steady flow for their cargo from Austria to the rest of Europe.

“Benefiting from the constant availability of Shortsea equipment in Austria, as well as large scale operations, we can help our customers cope with last-minute orders, changes or delays by adding or rerouting their cargo when needed. With our extensive multimodal network in Europe, we simplify the complex tasks of choosing and managing supply chains and enable our customers to deliver their products to markets throughout Europe”, the company announces.

Use of 45′ containers offers the possibility of an effortless move of cargo between truck and more sustainable transport modes like rail and seaborne transport. Therefore, by choosing the multimodal solution shippers can make a valuable contribution to less CO2 emissions as well as less congestion on European roads.

Since its establishment, Unifeeder has grown significantly through organic growth, as well as strategic acquisitions. Today the Unifeeder group includes – Unifeeder, a provider of the largest feeder and shortsea network in Europe, as well as its sister company Unimed Feeder Services, a leading feeder operator in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.

The Unifeeder Group is owned by DP World, a leading enabler of global trade and an integrated supplier to numerous supply chains, who operates multiple yet related businesses – from marine and inland terminals, maritime services, logistics, and ancillary services to technology-driven trade solutions.
