New facilities for Cargotec, CEVA and GAC
Cargotec will establish a global competence centre in Singapore; CEVA has opened a new Freight Management office in Finland; GAC opens new office in Trinidad & Tobago.
Cargotec plans to establish a global competence centre for container terminals development in Singapore, which will further strengthen its ability to provide total solutions for container terminal customers in the whole Asia-Pacific region.
Cargotec’s president & CEO Mikael Mäkinen said: "In order to better understand customer needs, Cargotec needs an extensive geographic presence and tight collaboration with local customers, partners and other stakeholders. Singapore is one of the world’s largest ports and it offers a unique view to customer trends, requirements and future needs for research, development and engineering purposes."
Cargotec has been present in Singapore for more than thirty years. The company has the Asia-Pacific region as one of its growth areas – accounting for 40% of total sales in 2010.
Cargotec’s Asian production units are located in China, India, Korea, Malaysia and Singapore.
CEVA Logistics has strengthening its Freight Management platform in the Nordic region with the opening of new premises in Helsinki, Finland.
The new office is strategically located close to Helsinki airport.
In the Nordics, CEVA also has offices in Stockholm and Gothenberg in Sweden.
GAC Energy & Marine Services has expanded its shipping and logistics services to Trinidad & Tobago with the opening of its newest office in San Fernando.
There is potential for substantial long-term growth in this region. Trinidad & Tobago has estimated reserves of around one billion barrels of crude oil. Current production represents a mere fraction of this, with nearly two-thirds of potential reserves being untapped.
The local administration is committed to developing the energy sector, and has announced plans to prioritise exploration and development over the next five years.
