New handling equipment with Terminal Service Austria

ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG has put into operation a new generation of machines for cargo throughput with Terminal Service Austria (TSA). A total of seven container stackers, three terminal tractors and one forklift were purchased for the TSA terminals in Wolfurt, Wels and Vienna-Northwest.

“This investment into our facilities totals more than EUR 4 million. They are necessary to handle the core business of the terminals in the interest of our customers and to facilitate our employees’ work at the sites, among other things,” said Andreas Fuchs, Managing Director TSA.

In the European tender a longtime partner of TSA was the winner – the Kalmar company. TSA and Kalmar have been cooperating for 25 years. “The first container stacker of Kalmar put into operation in 1992 at the terminal Wels Company,” says Jürgen Wurzer, Managing Director Kalmar Austria GmbH.

The new handling equipment was formally handed over at the Wels terminal on 30 June 2016. Also Frederik Malmborg and Mikael Andersson of Kalmar / Cargotec in Sweden attended the event.

Johann Schnürzer, terminal manager Wels, emphasised on the years of good operational cooperation with Kalmar. “It was often a challenge to deliver and install the large and bulky parts quickly, but rapid solutions could always be found with the professional support from both sides.”
