New road-rail Unimog for Treibacher in Althofen
Treibacher Industrie AG in Althofen, Carinthia, is one of the world’s leading suppliers of high-performance ceramics, hard metals, rare earths and chemicals as well as environmental catalysts, pharmaceutical chemicals and a supplier to the steel and foundry industry. A lot of the daily transport logistics is rail-based – and a road-rail Unimog will continue to play a decisive role in the future.
With the new U 430 road-rail Unimog, Treibacher is replacing an old one that had been used for 20 years. The newly acquiredf vehicle is able to pull up to 800 tonnes on the rail, with up to 50 km/h, but is at the same time available for road transport at speeds up to 80 km/h. This road-rail technology is provided by Zagro, the overall care and consulting is the responsibility of the department Unimog and special vehicles of Pappas.
Treibacher recognised this extra in flexibility compared to a shunting locomotive at an early stage and is successfully continuing on its path with the new Unimog.
