New Thorough Examination team from Toyota

Toyota Material Handling has created a team to carry out Thorough Examinations on materials handling equipment led by John Magill, a senior thorough examination technician at Toyota.

A Thorough Examination is a legal requirement when owning or operating lifting equipment with forks. Companies are required to ensure the equipment meets safety requirements set out by the Consolidated Fork Truck Services Ltd (CFTS). It is a mandatory check to make sure that the mechanical parts of material handling equipment are in safe working order.

The Toyota team can carry out Thorough Examinations at customer sites across the UK on a wide range of lifting equipment including forklift trucks and warehouse equipment.

The team at Toyota is accredited by the CFTS and conducts examinations that meet and exceed the legal requirements of LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) and PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Regulations Equipment) examinations.

A LOLER examination covers the lifting parts of the truck, while a PUWER examination will examine other safety related parts such as steering, brakes and tyres.

Magill, who has worked with Toyota for over 25 years, said: “I am proud to be part of a team that proactively ensures the safety of the operators. I am able to carry out an examination then explain my findings afterwards with the customer, leaving them with a better understanding of their equipment.”
