New transatlantic service with shipping line CSAV

SAMEX Sling 2 goes operational in June: CSAV expands its service range from North Europe to East Coast of North America and Gulf of Mexico

CSAV Group is expanding its coverage on the transatlantic trade by launching a second weekly service from North Europe to the East Coast of North America and Gulf of Mexico. The New service set up will be as follows:

SAMEX (Current Sling): Weekly service deploying 6 x 3500 TEU vessels providing following port rotation: Le Havre – Antwerp – Rotterdam – Bremerhaven – Charleston – Miami – Veracruz – Altamira – Houston – Miami – Le Havre.

SAMEX Sling 2: Weekly service deploying 5 x 3200 TEU vessels will provide following port rotation: Antwerp – Bremerhaven – Southampton – Charleston – Port Everglades – Houston – Savannah – Norfolk – Antwerp. First sailing with MV Yorktown Express V.017 ETA Antwerp June 12, 2014.

Last month Hapag-Lloyd AG and Compañía Sud Americana de Vapores (CSAV) signed a binding contract on merging CSAV’s entire container business with Hapag-Lloyd, subject to the necessary approvals. Following the integration, the new Hapag-Lloyd will rank among the four largest liner shipping companies in the world, with some 200 vessels with total transport capacity of around TEU 1 million TEU, an annual transport volume of TEU 7.5 million and a combined turnover of EUR 9 billion. The company’s head office will remain in Hamburg. In addition, Hapag-Lloyd will have a strong regional office in Chile for its Latin America business.
