New warehouse of J. Müller AG optimises processes in the port of Brake

J. Müller group’s “Halle Nord“ to protect steel products, stainless steel coils and project loads from weather impact

The Niedersachsenkai in the seaport of Brake, hitherto mainly reserved for the handling of steel products, wind power components and project cargo, was completed in its functionality through the construction of a 8,000 m² warehouse by J. Müller Aktiengesellschaft (J. Müller AG). This should further optimise business processes.

The „Halle Nord“ is primarily designed for the storage of steel products such as coils of wire, stainless steel coils or normal steel coils and project cargo. The latter may consist of unpacked/packed parts of machines or plants that are usually delivered in purpose-madewooden packaging.

According to the J. Müller AG, there is a tendency in the steel sector that shiploads of various steel products are assembled, some of which can be stored outdoors, but others require a weatherproof storage. Also project cargoes are often stored covered until shipment via Niedersachsenkai. Previously, the existing hall capacity at the North Pier had to be used for these parts, which meant that either loading ships had to be moved or components had to be transported by truck within the port.

To simplify the procedures and reasons of environmental protection, J. Müller AG has built a separate warehouse for the transhipment activities of the J. Mueller Breakbulk Terminal at Niedersachsenkai for EUR 3.2 million. The inauguration of the building took place on October 25 as part of a customer event.
