Ocado signs 10-year lease for south London spoke hub

Ocado has taken a warehouse formerly occupied by DIY retailer Homebase on Merton Trade Park, south London, as a spoke hub for its distribution network in the capital.

Ocado has taken a 10-year lease on the 32,600 sq ft property from landlord Aviva Investors.

Merton Council approved changing the use of the 1.6 acre site from retail to industrial and storage in early June this year.

The property was refurbished and now includes dock levellers, fuel pumps as well as a widened entry road.

Colin Lawrence-Warterhouse, asset manager at Aviva Investors, said: “I’m very pleased to welcome Ocado to Merton Industrial Park, leasing the former Homebase retail unit that we have successfully repositioned for last mile logistics.”

CBRE advised on the planning, Altus Group and Gerald Eve acted for Ocado
