OceanRail Logistics S.A., Greece, officially established

On December 22, 2017, OceanRail Logistics S.A. completed its business registration procedures in Greece, marking the official establishment of Sino-European sea-rail transportation platform of Cosco Shipping. In order to further implement the Belt and Road Initiative, this company will make full use of sea-rail intermodal transportation to well connect the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and the Silk Road Economic Belt in Europe with the Port of Piraeus as the hub. In addition, it will provide substantial supports to the construction of the third transportation corridor between Asia and Europe , the building of Piraeus into a pivotal point along the Belt and Road, achieving the overall synergic effects.

China Cosco Shipping Corporation Limited is an state-owned enterprise headquartered in Shanghai. The throughput of its container terminals worldwide amounts to 90 million TEU, taking the second place in the world; the global sales volume of its ship bunker fuel exceeds 25 million tons, topping the world’s list; the container leasing business scale surpasses 2.7 million TEU, which is the third-largest in the world; and its offshore engineering manufacturing competence and vessel agency business are also leading in the world.
