Ongoing capacity bottlenecks for U.S. exports

Situation in the US East and West Coast ports and the favourable dollar exchange rate also affect the international air freight business

„The collective bargaining at US ports that have been ongoing for months still impede the supply situation despite the agreement reached,“ the DB Schenker Logistics forwarding company writes in a press release.

Through those bottlenecks and large amounts of cargo in ports many sea freight exports have already been converted to air freight. In addition, the continued favourable dollar exchange rate boosted the economy in the North America.

According to the global transport and logistics provider this impairs the current export market to the U.S. and will also lead to longer runtimes or waits in terms of the capacity available on the market in the coming weeks / months.

In its letter DB Schenker emphasized on its efforts to ensure the fastest possible transportation of cargo to avoid any longer waits for exporters in Austria, Central and Eastern Europe.
