Only cashless payment at the Bulgarian border crossing Andreevo

Change in payment options for road use and vignette charges since 1 June 2015 to accelerate truck handling between Bulgaria and Turkey

Since 1 June 2015 charges for road use and vignettes for trucks can only be paid cashless at the Kapitan Andreevo border crossing between Bulgaria and Turkey, informs the working group of Austrian road transport operators (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Internationaler Straßenverkehrsunternehmer Österreichs – AISOE).

Payments with the following credit cards are accepted: Visa, Visa Electron, V Pay, MasterCard, Maestro and BORIKA (a credit card issued by Bulgarian financial service providers). For charging there are basically no changes. Bulgarian vehicles pay the fees unchanged in Bulgarian currency (BGN) and foreign vehicles in Euro.

The reason for the change of the method of payment is a hoped-for acceleration of the handling procedure at this border crossing, and the chance to stop the corruption. The Bulgarian border authorities have also announced to extend this payment method to other major border crossings to Bulgaria.
