Ontime Logistics receives order on behalf of flight safety

48-hours service from Vienna to the United States: Ontime Logistics forwards aircraft engines for „major service“ across the Atlantic and back

Ontime Logistics, a special logistics company headquartered in Salzburg, received a new order from the aviation industry. With a 48-hour service engines of Austrian commercial aircraft will be picked up at the Vienna airport, flown to the United States for a „major service“ and taken back to Austria afterwards.

„Inspection and overhaul of aircraft engines must be performed by certified repair shops,“ Roland Schäffner, managing partner of the Ontime Logistics GmbH, explains the reasons for this logistics process. This year, a total of 16 engines of Fokker jets will be flown to the United States. In 2014, the special logistics company expects about 20 units to be transported either from Dallas to Vienna or in the other sense.

Two criteria have been decisive for this contract: „In the aviation industry everything has to be done quickly and efficiently. We offer a 48-hour service and can refer to many years of experience in the aerospace business,“ Roland Schäffner underlines the competence of his company. „Shipment has to be carried out strictly according to special instructions by the manufacturer. They go beyond the selection of appropriate vehicles, routes and securing of cargo. These rules are an absolute must. In case of non-compliance the respective engine must not be installed, and needs to be overhauled or re-examined, in order to guarantee flight safety. “
