Oxfordshire bakery adds eight new double deck trailers to fleet

Banbury-based producer of bakery products Fine Lady Bakeries has invested in eight moving double deck trailers to add to its existing vehicle fleet.

Part of the Heygate Group, Fine Lady Bakeries originally produced its goods from a 10-acre site in Banbury, Oxfordshire. However, due to continued growth, it opened a second site in Manchester in 2010. The company claims that it produces in excess of 3 million loaves of bread every week.

The new additions to its fleet will primarily be used to move its bakery products from the two sites in Banbury and Manchester to supermarkets, wholesalers, and other customers.

The trailers, from Cheshire-based manufacturer Tiger Trailers, feature a moving deck operated by Tiger’s four-ram hydraulic system, which it claims offers “advanced robustness, reliability, and an increased load capacity”.

Each trailer has a range of safety features including recessed hinges in the rear frame, reinforced pillar lowers, and rubber cones fitted to each door and side panel. Additionally, a number of lights, alarms, and visual warning systems have been installed to enhance operator safety.

Adam Robson, Fine Lady Bakeries’ Logistics Manager, said: “We’re very pleased with our new double-decker trailers from Tiger and look forward to fostering a strong relationship with the team going forwards.”

Fine Lady Bakeries is not the only firm investing in its road transport fleet. Data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) shows that more HGVs were registered in Q1 2023 than in any other quarter in the past two years. There were 11,517 registrations in the period, up 17.1% from Q2 2023.
