Panalpina acquires Australian forwarding partner

Confirming its commitment to further growth in the Oceania region, Panalpina has acquired its long-time partner, Apollo Forwarding, in Adelaide, South Australia, effective immediately.

Panalpina and Apollo Forwarding have been close partners for more than ten years, Apollo Adelaide having acted as Panalpina’s agent both locally and globally.

Apollo Adelaide brings a solid customer base, particularly in South Australia. While Panalpina will benefit from Apollo’s local know-how and customer relationships, the company will contribute its worldwide network, standardised IT applications, tailor-made customer solutions and global sales team to strengthen Apollo’s service portfolio.

According to Karl Weyeneth, chief operating officer of the Panalpina Group, the acquisition enables Panalpina to further enlarge its geographic coverage in Oceania and also widens its customer base. The company will also focus on the winery and automotive markets in South Australia.

All Apollo Adelaide employees will remain with the company, including managing director Matthew Caudle, who has been appointed Business Unit manager of Panalpina Adelaide.
