Panalpina expects market growth in air and ocean freight

Sustainable profitable growth remains chief priority of Panalpina group

For the year 2010 Monika Ribar, CEO of the worldwide active transport and logistics group Panalpina, expects growth in transport volumes of 15 per cent for air freight and 10 per cent for ocean freight. Although the business developed quite positive in the past months, the group will continue to operate on the principle of sustainable profitable growth. This shall happen against the background of a clear product segmentation and a strong customer focus, as the Manager announces in a press release.

In the second quarter of 2010 the Panalpina group posted substantial growth in forwarding volumes in both air freight (+36 per cent) and ocean freight (+19 per cent), while gaining market share, triggered by the recovery of the industrial segments automotive, hi-tech, telecommunications, chemicals, consumer, retail and fashion. At the same time, the company increased profitability per freight unit compared to the first quarter.
