Peak challenges
The struggles and challenges faced in peak seasons will come under scrutiny from Justin Ferguson, logistics director at Buy It Direct, when he speaks at the Omni-Channel Conference later this month.
Buy It Direct is a fast-growing e-commerce business with an annual turnover of £150m. In this role Ferguson has main board responsibility for logistics operations, operational development and strategy. Previously he has worked for Hermes with a senior operational role working within the parcel operation. He will be looking at demand forecasting and planning to ensure a smoother peak season and improved delivery lead times, as well as how to gain a better understanding of how multi-channel is managed with the challenge to satisfy the customers’ need for convenience.
Ferguson will be joined in a panel discussion on how to manage the peak season effectively and efficiently by Guy Meisl, supply chain director of Deckers Outdoor, and Alex Mead, chief customer officer of Golfbreaks.com.
Meisl has overseen changes in almost every part of the Deckers business, from UK 3PL moves and new European freight forwarders to supporting the US automated warehouse in California and identifying logistics partners in Canada.
