Plans submitted for 2 million sq ft West Yorkshire warehouse

Developer Mountpark has submitted plans for a 2 million sq ft plus warehouse on a plot of land at the 200-acre Wakefield Hub off Newmarket Lane in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

The building, which has a footplate of 625,360 sq ft as well as four mezzanine floors, is being brought forward for an as yet unidentified national logistics operator.

The warehouse will have parking for 791 cars and 150 HGVs. It will have dock and level access doors along two sides as well as pallet storage. It is thought represent a capital investment of some £120 million and will support more than 1,500 jobs when up and running

Wakefield Hub, which is a joint venture development by Henry Boot and Yorkcourt, is close to Junction 30 of the M62 and can accommodate eaves height in excess of 40m.

Occupiers on the 200-acre site include chilled and frozen operator Newcold and independent wholesaler Kitwave, whose new 55,000 sq ft depot is currently under construction.

There are several other plots on the scheme which are being marketed by JLL and Carter Towler, which can accommodate building footplates from 40 – 750,000 sq ft. The site benefits from a 16Mva power supply.
