Rail Cargo Operator extends services to and from Turkey

The Rail Cargo Group has been providing a successful connection to and from Turkey for some years. Thanks to regular shuttle services, a connection was established that customers have found attractive and that provides a reliable alternative to road and shipping transport.

Rail Cargo Operator currently runs a return Sopron-Halkali service four times each week, with all traction supplied in-house as far as to Kapikule at the Turkish border (transit time of 85 hours) – through the carrier services of the Rail Cargo Group. This service will be increased in May to five round trips per week and again to six round trips in September. Furthermore, services to meet the market requirements between European economic centres and Turkey are in the pipeline.

According to the company, the RCO product offers optimum links to the European intermodal network. In addition, other high-frequency connections to the most important economic centres in Europe, with a focus on the Ruhr district, are available via the RCO Terminal BILK (Budapest). At peak times, short-sea connections via the southern ports can suffer from congestion issues, and in these circumstances RCO offers a land transport alternative. Furthermore, customers are guaranteed optimum support from a dedicated, international and multilingual team, with excellent networking over the entire transport chain.

The Rail Cargo Group can draw on many years of experience on the Turkish market. Its own railway logistics subsidiary and the successful establishment of high-frequency long-haul intermodal connections from the Ruhr district to Turkey have provided a strong backbone for the corridor and established the rail operator product on the market.
