UPS sees great potential in Austria and Slovenia

UPS has appointed Michiel van Veen as Country Manager for Austria and Slovenia. In this function, he is responsible for business operations, business development and strategy.

Michiel Van Veen started working part-time as delivery driver in Eindhoven in the Netherlands in 1997 for UPS. After seven years working in the parcel delivery segment, he started working in the sales department and was appointed Sales Manager for the Benelux countries in 2012. From 2014 to 2017, he headed the sales division for 28 Central and Eastern European countries.

“We see great potential in the European market, in Austria and Slovenia, and we are currently investing 2 billion USD in our European infrastructure; for example to the new branches in Graz and Innsbruck. These investments help Austrian customers sell their products all over the world,” says Michiel van Veen.

UPS has recently improved the run times for its most cost-effective UPS standard service between Austria and Slovenia and Southern Central and Eastern Europe. In Vienna, there are currently 130 UPS Access Point locations.

“Michiel van Veen brings a wealth of experience that will help UPS customers enter new and growing markets. He has a deep understanding of the supply chains and the needs of the customers and knows how to support them in export,” says Nando Cesarone, President UPS Europe.
