P&O Ferrymasters implement new WMS for port-centric strategy

P&O Ferrymasters – part of DP World –  has implemented a warehouse management system (WMS) in two of its warehouses as part of its port-centric strategy.

The WMS, named Corax, was developed by Davanti Warehousing, and will be rolled-out across a warehouse in Rotterdam and one just outside of London.

P&O Ferrymasters five-year port-centric strategy will see it bring its warehousing in-house, as it previously rented storage space. P&O Ferrymasters stores around 600,000 units on an annual basis, but he objective of the  strategy is to achieve a growth of 5% to 10% per year by widening its activities in this area.

The CORAX WMS enables control over internal warehousing and as CORAX is SaaS (Software as a Service) it is an online, scalable product requiring no server or IT infrastructure.

Niels van der Putten, general manager operations, contract logistics for P&O Ferrymasters, said: “The CORAX App is very user-friendly; you can work with both your smart phone and a logistics scanner. This makes starting up very easy.”
