Port logistics company creates attractive jobs for women

On the basis of a works agreement signed on 24 January between the Works Council of BLG AutoTerminals Bremerhaven and BLG Logistics, up to 170 employees will be hired for the BLG AutoTerminal Bremerhaven in the coming months. Of these, for the first time around 100 persons in a newly agreed part-time model with family-friendly and care-friendly shift times and a shift period of six hours.

Udo Klöpping, Personnel Manager of BLG Logistics, states: “With this agreement, we will be able to create attractive jobs in the port for women in particular and increase the proportion of women in the workforce.” The works council chairman of the Bremerhaven car terminal Klaus Pollok stresses: “As works councils, we have long been committed to a better reconciliation of work and family life. The agreement signed today is a big step in the right direction for us.”

The agreement is initially concluded for a limited time to check whether the desired goals can be achieved. The occupation of the new and collectively secured jobs is to be carried out in close cooperation with the Employment Agency in Bremerhaven. There, the demand for part-time jobs is high.

The Labour Director of BLG Logistics, Dieter Schumacher, explains: “For more and more employees and also for job seekers, the compatibility of work and family becomes a criterion for a decision for or against a company. Our company will strengthen its reputation as an attractive employer with this measure.”
