Prize for the first carbon dioxide-neutral manufactured canvas trailer
German trailer manufacturer CIMC Silvergreen obtains European transport award on sustainability 2014 for its Curtain SG03 trailer type
Curtain SG03, the world’s first “climate-neutral“ trailer, has won the European transport award on sustainability (Europäischer Transportpreis für Nachhaltigkeit 2014) in the category of canvas trailers a few days ago. A jury of seven experts honoured the German manufacturer CIMC Silvergreen’s contribution to climate protection.
With this European transport prize every two years the jury of representatives from academia, business and industry, associations and media, honours products for the transport industry, combining economic success with social responsibility and environmental protection. The prerequisite for a „climate neutral product“ as the CIMC Silvergreen Curtain SG03 is the calculation of the so-called Product Carbon Footprint (PCF). The calculation covers all direct, indirect and previous emissions and refers to material production, vehicle production and logistics.
Founded under the name Burg Silvergreen in 2010, the German trailer manufacturer based in Neu-Ulm was renamed to CIMC Silver Green in May 2013. The company is part of the Chinese manufacturer of containers and semi-trailers CIMC (China International Marine Containers). CIMC Silver Green is the only manufacturer worldwide to offer climate neutral produced curtainsiders. At the new headquarters in the Bavarian town of GĂĽnzburg, the company will manufacture the complete product range from early 2014, consisting of trays and refrigerated semi-trailers, container chassis, variable trailers and swap bodies.
