Quehenberger is growing with dm drogerie markt in Enns
Against the current trend, Quehenberger Logistics counts on innovative solutions and expanded storage capacity, and has recently opened a new warehouse in Enns, Upper Austria. The additional 15,000 m² multifunctional warehouse in Upper Austria grows the space of the site to 76,000 m² in total.
The expansion was motivated by the adjacent wholesale customer dm drogerie markt, who has been closely cooperating with the logistics provider for years. At the same time, the highly modern warehouse is also open to other interested parties.
The new building on the premises of Quehenberger allowed to keep the center of the entire goods distribution of dm drogerie markt for Austria in Enns. A new, innovative logistics concept shall help to implement the joint focus on green logistics.
The site, which is located near the motorway and the port of Enns, provides excellent transport connections. It is also equipped with a 3,000 m² dangerous goods warehouse and offers a variety of logistics services. This includes integration to the national network, express services, retail expertise and FTL and LTL solutions.
The new warehouse with three halls was designed primarily from the perspective of multifunctionality. Therefore, rigid Blackbox solutions or automatic conveyors were abandoned in favor of wide-aisle warehouses with forklift operation. “So the customer instead of a pre-defined facility can determine about the storage operations,” explains Josef Berner, branch manager. Moreover, this allows responding flexibly to peaks.
The new warehouse has 20,000 pallet spaces and 34 docking gates, ten of them with air bars to also serve the food industry optimally. In terms of flexible and fast handling the shelf systems are not higher than ten meters. Moreover, the use of reach trucks allows faster lifting and pushing and thus improved handling capacity.
