Rail Cargo Group launches new rail service Duisburg-Ljubljana

Innovative transport concept of the Rail Cargo Group combines Company Train and open cargo train

The Rail Cargo Group (Vienna) announces the introduction of an innovative transport solutions. Since the end of August a new intermodal rail service has been operated two times per week connecting the Duisburg Rheinhausen DKT terminal and Ljubljana Moste terminal. Semitrailers and containers are accepted for transport. The wagons (pocket and container wagons) are fully owned by the Rail Cargo Group.

2/3 of the capacity in the new rail service connecting the Ruhr area and Slovenia are sold to fixed customers in regular rotations; 1/3 can be used by flexible interested parties. The agreement with the existing customers is valid until the end of 2014. From October they will operate three weekly rotations. The routes are valid on five working days, but frequency can be increased on further demand in the market.

The booking of this intermodal train is handled exclusively by the RCA operator in Vienna, where all processes are managed. The Rail Cargo Group operates in own traction the route between the Slovenian-Austrian border crossing Jesenice and Munich. From Munich to the crane at the Duisburg terminal – and return – a train driver of a private railway enterprise takes over the steering wheel of the ÖBB locomotive, which is thus used throughout the entire route.
