Rail Cargo Group links Belgium to Austria

High frequency transport system of the Rail Cargo Group to provide long-haul services together with the Belgian rail operator Railtraxx

With its Antwerp shuttle, the Rail Cargo Group (RCG) offers a new transnational, holistic rail service linking Austria and Belgium, thus connecting Western Europe to South and South Eastern Europe at least three times weekly.

The target region of this rotation is Belgium, including the ports of Antwerp, Ghent and Zeebrugge. The supply of industrial enterprises in this region is one of the key functions of the product.

A key element of the new rotation between Austria and Belgium is to serve the existing customers of RCG and potential new industrial customers from a single source. The focus is on the implementation of a continuous international order fulfillment process.

The services range from industry-specific rail logistics solutions for conventional cargo and container transport and warehouse logistics to the organisation of pre- and oncarriage and RID transports – including quality assurance. Through high-frequency shuttles Rail Cargo Group links the Benelux countries and Austria, as well as the entire Central and South Eastern European region.

The shunting yard in Linz is the central hub for goods flows from Belgium for the further forwarding of shipments in Austria in single wagon transport system or for further connection to other train system services towards Central and South Eastern Europe. Railtraxx, a private Belgian rail operator, is the partner for traction on the long-haul route from Linz to Antwerp-Noord and for fine distribution in Belgium. Rail & Sea NV, a company that is also a local sales partner, will take over operative control to serve the Belgian network.
