Bristol-Myers Squibb has appointed DHL Supply Chain as the 3PL to handle the US distribution of its biopharmaceutical products.

DHL will provide logistics operations and finished goods distribution services including storage and distribution of cold chain and ambient temperature products, clinical trials, samples and exports.

As part of the contract, DHL has agreed to purchase the existing Bristol-Myers Squibb distribution centres in Mount Vernon, Indiana, and will take over operations in the second quarter of this year. Shortly thereafter, DHL will also open and manage a second distribution centre on its Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania campus for Bristol-Myers Squibb.

DHL has been appointed the official logistics partner for Vivienne Westwood’s international shoe exhibition roadshow.

The partnership includes packaging, transportation, customs clearance, insurance and on time delivery of the exhibits, which will be transported by air and road Moscow, followed by Beirut, Beijing, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

Damco has secured two contracts to handle cross-border transport to Cambodia for Unilever, which involves trucking an annual volume of several thousand tonnes of FMCG consignments for Unilever.

The contracts cover Thailand to Cambodia and Vietnam to Cambodia.

Damco has developed overland solutions to support both import- and export-handling for the Cambodia market. Damco has also developed new services that improve customers‘ access to airports and sea ports in both Vietnam and Thailand, which include greater access to capacity, more frequent sailing options, and direct flights and liner options.

Damco’s first Thailand-Cambodia contract with Unilever was awarded in February 2010, with FMCG consignments transported from two Thailand distribution centres to a facility in Cambodia.

The new business includes a contract for cross-border transport from five Vietnamese factories to a distribution centre in Cambodia.

Ramba’s logistics unit, RichLand Logistics, has been awarded a new marine logistics services contract, worth approximately S$10 million, to support the installation of an offshore gas processing platform in the waters of Southeast Asia.

RichLand will serve as lead logistics provider to manage the supply of four vessels, including an offshore accommodation barge and two anchor handling tugs (AHT).

RichLand will also take charge of supply vessel support from the mainland to offshore location, including inbound transportation of spare parts and equipment.

The installation of the sea-based platform is scheduled to being in the second half of 2011, with completion scheduled before year-end.

Kontane Logistics has extended its partnership with Behr America Service Parts (BASP), expanding to an off-site flow centre adjacent to BASP’s production plant in Charleston after BSAP appointed Kontane as its supply chain partner to conduct all packaging operations for aftermarket components manufactured within Behr’s facility.

As part of the production, the BASP components are identified, labelled and specifically packaged, and the end product is relayed to Kontane Logistics‘ HQ in Charleston.  From there, the parts are received as finished goods, housed in inventory and distributed throughout the continental US, Mexico and Canada.

This process entails a three-shift operation on a six-day work week, producing roughly 500 packaged components per day and 3,000 per week.

China Cargo Airlines has appointed Bangkok Flight Services (BFS) as its cargo handling partner in Bangkok.

The new contract will see BFS handling 20,000 tons of freight a year for the Shanghai-based airline, which serves Bangkok with MD11, Boeing 747 and B777 aircraft.

China Cargo Airlines currently serves Thailand’s capital with six flights a week, linking the city with Singapore and Shanghai. 

BFS, a joint venture between Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) and Bangkok Airways, provides passenger, ground and cargo handling services to 46 airlines in Bangkok, and handles approximately 280,000 tons of cargo per year at its 55,000 m² terminal. WFS already provide handling services for China Cargo Airlines in France, Italy and the US.
