Weiss Rohlig has secured new business with Comtrend to manage air- and sea freight exports from Taiwan to Romania, Croatia and the Czech Republic.

Weiss Röhlig managed Comtrend’s airfreight and ocean shipments from Taiwan to Bulgaria in 2010.

Weiss Röhlig’s comprehensive network and reach into Eastern Europe includes overland trucking and rail connections through Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria and Ukraine.

Weiss Röhlig – a joint venture between Austrian transport and logistics company Gebrüder Weiss and Bremen-based freight forwarding company Röhlig – provides import and export services from the Slovenian port of Koper with direct access to the dynamic emerging economies in Eastern Europe, a cost effective alternative to trucking cargo from Northern European ports such as Hamburg or Rotterdam.

Norbert Dentressangle Transport Services has secured a new contract with Stokvis Tapes for the distribution of its adhesive products.

Stokvis has more than thirty production facilities around the world, producing more than 3,500 different tape products.

Previously, the company’s orders were despatched to customers individually using a parcel carrier, but in line with business growth, Stokvis has appointed Norbert Dentressangle to provide more accurate and cost-effective deliveries via its national shared-user pallet network.

Norbert Dentressangle collects orders from the UK manufacturing depot in Tring, Hertfordshire, where orders are consolidated onto pallets for next-day delivery to key customers all across the UK.

In addition Stokvis Tapes is benefiting from access to the bespoke SHARP (Shipment Handling & Reporting Program) technology provided by Norbert Dentressangle. The integrated online system enables the company to place orders electronically, which are scanned and tracked in real-time to improve operational efficiency and service levels.

Wincanton’s logistics contract with Mattel has been renewed for another six years. Worth £24 million, the contract was originally secured in 1999 and builds on a long-established partnership.

Wincanton will continue to be Mattel’s sole distributor in the UK.

Operating from its Corby distribution centre, Wincanton delivers co-packing and product manipulation services to a range of Mattel products, before managing distribution to some of the UK’s largest retailers. This activity also includes covering the ‘Goods in Peak‘ period from August to December. In 2009, Wincanton handled more than 1.5 million cases during this five-month period.

Commenting on the renewal, David Rhodes, Northern European Supply Chain Director at Mattel, said: "Wincanton has been our trusted logistics partner for over ten years now, providing seamless support for UK offer through its Corby distribution centre. This site is the hub for all of our products for this market, and Wincanton’s ability to handle peaks in activity over the Christmas trading period is crucial to our business."

The Lloyd Fraser Group has been awarded a five-year contract for the collection and distribution of fresh milk on behalf of Milk Link.

Operating through Lloyd Fraser’s Logistics subsidiary, the new enterprise will be based in Milborne St. Andrew, Dorset and will be responsible for farm collection and onward logistics to Milk Link and a variety of customer facilities in the South of England, every day of the year.
