Renault Trucks joins forces with Kleuster to make e-cargo bikes

Renault Trucks has partnered with Kleuster, a French manufacturer specialising in light cargo vehicles, to assemble and distribute electric bikes. The bikes will be used to transport cargo as a last-mile delivery option.

Kleuster has been developing a range of bikes, known as ‘fregônes’, since 2014. The products serve several industries and include models tailored to food delivery and refuse management.

The decision for Renault Trucks to manufacture such vehicles is driven by an intent to meet rising demand for sustainable last-mile delivery.

Bruno Blin, President of Renault Trucks, said: “E-cargo bikes can be a great option for customers in urban environments that need to access zero emissions zones. Through this partnership with Kleuster, Renault Trucks is differentiating itself and taking the lead in offering even better solutions to our current and future clients.”

The manufacturing of these e-cargo bikes will take place at Renault’s industrial site in Vennisieux, Lyon- just 1km from Kleuster’s headquarters.
