Rhenus buys RCS Logistics

Rhenus, the German logistics group, has bought RCS Logistics, which operates from a 350,000 sq ft logistics centre in Corby.

RCS directors Steve Gray and Richard Robinson will take seats on the Rhenus UK board, while all 135 RCS Logistics employees will remain with the business.

Globally, Rhenus has a turnover of € 4.8 billion. It operates from more than 580 locations worldwide and employs 28,000 people.

Rhenus Logistics UK, which operates 12 sites, turned over £68.7m in the year to 31st December. It recently started rolling out a new Express product, and is set to open a new 60,700 sq ft facility in Port Salford at the end of 2017.

RCS Logistics has a turnover of £8.4m in the year to 31st December 2016. Following the acquisition, Rhenus UK has underwritten an investment which will see the business add a further 90,000 sq ft of capacity, due to go live in November of this year.
