Rickmers Linie reinforces its Europe/India service

17,000 dwt newbuilding “Rickmers Tianjin“ moves cargo pieces up to 300 tons with two cranes

Rickmers Linie has added a 17,000 dwt newbuilding to its Europe/India service. Rickmers Tianjin was recently christened in Mumbai. The service calls the basic ports Hamburg, Antwerp, Genoa, Mumbai and Chennai. More ports can be called on demand. In addition to the sister vessels Rickmers Tianjin and Rickmers Yokohama, the charter vessels Linde, Martin and Baltic Winter are operated on the Europe/India route.

The two newbuildings Rickmers Yokohama and Rickmers Tianjin are each equipped with two cranes, which can lift 150 tons, and one crane able to lift 80 tons. Together the two bigger cranes can move freight pieces of a maximum weight of 300 tons. Being smaller than the nine Superflex units, each 30.000dwt, which are operated in Rickmers’ Round-the-World Pearl String Service, these vessels are more flexible regarding requirements of some ports on their routes. In particular in Mumbai locks limit the size of vessels to call.

Rickmers-Linie is a leading expert for sea transport of general, heavy and project cargo. The enterprise based in Hamburg is a company of the Rickmers group, which provides diversified activites in the following segments: Maritime Asset, Maritime Services, Logistik Services and services for the maritime industry. The Rickmers group operates currently a fleet of 122 vessels.
