Robert Dyas goes in-house at Hemel Hempstead

Robert Dyas is going in-house and relocating its warehouse, distribution and e-commerce fulfilment to a new facility, totalling 130,443 sq ft, plus a 58,811 sq ft mezzanine, on the Maylands Business Park, Hemel Hempstead.

The home, garden and kitchenware retailer, was bought by retail entrepreneur Theo Paphitis in July 2012.

It is transferring from an outsourced third party arrangement in Enfield to an in-house solution. It has taken the property on a ten year lease with no breaks.

Robert Dyas has initiated the change to modernise its supply chain and drive improvements in efficiency and capacity. The transformation will also see sister company, Ryman, use the facility for deliveries to its London stores.

Robert Dyas opened his first shop in London in 1872. The business now has 95 stores spread across the South of England varying in size from 9,000 sq ft down to 1,250 sq ft.

Lambert Smith Hampton acted on behalf of AXA Real Estate on the leasehold disposal of the unit while White Druce Brown acted for Robert Dyas.
