Röhlig takes holding in Indian freight forwarder

 
International network of Röhlig & Co. and Gebrüder Weiss to be expanded

Röhlig & Co., a Bremen-based provider of transport and logistics services, consolidates its activities in the Asian-Pacific area. As from now on the enterprise is also represented in India with a 50 percent holding in Tricon Shipping Pvt. Ltd. (Chennai). At the beginning of the second quarter 2009 the Austrian logistics group Gebrüder Weiss will participate with 25% in the Röhlig-holding of Tricon Shipping Pvt. Ltd.

With the acquisition Röhlig confirms its expansion strategy focussing on the Asian growth markets. “Our aim is to establish at least one new national affiliate per year“, said Thomas W. Herwig, Managing Director. In 2008 the group established affiliates in Denmark, Thailand and Japan, as well as offices in Verona (Italy) and in Strasbourg (France).

Since its establishment in 1992 Tricon Shipping Pvt. Ltd., headquartered in Chennai, evolved into one of the largest private logistics service providers in India. The network of the company comprises 14 locations in all big commercial centres of India. Tricon Shipping offers logistic solutions for air-/seafreight, warehousing and distribution.
