Royal Mail reaches agreement with workers union on pay and conditions

A joint statement from Royal Mail and the Communication Workers Union (CWU) on 15 April has confirmed that the two organisations have come to an agreement on pay and conditions for Royal Mail staff “after almost a year of talks”.

Following strikes last year and a breakdown of talks just weeks ago, the parties have reached a negotiators’ agreement in principle. According to the joint statement: “The proposed agreement will now be considered by the executive of the union before being voted on by the union’s membership.”

It goes on to say: “An announcement on the detailed content of the proposed agreement will be made when it is ratified by the union’s executive committee.”

The union is currently unable to comment on the deal due to the fact that its executive is now in the process of discussing it but Logistics Manager will provide an update once this process concludes.

Royal Mail has also been approached for comment.
