Samskip Multimodal to start a new Norway service via Rotterdam

Samskip Multimodal launches its own weekly West Coast shortsea service to Tananger, Bergen and Alesund from Rotterdam

As of September 30, Samskip Multimodal introduces its own weekly shortsea service to the Norwegian West Coast, connecting its pan-European network to Tananger, Bergen and Alesund via Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Therefore the company deploys the 518 TEU MV Pioneer Bay. Besides normal Door-Door services, it will also provide Quay-Quay services, securing its growth in the Door-Door segment and Tank/Bulk markets.

With a fixed weekly sailing schedule, Samskip Multimodal is able to deliver cargoes anywhere along the Norwegian West Coast from Rotterdam in the same week.

Caesar Luikenaar, Senior General Manager Scandinavia Trade, Samskip Multimodal, says: “This new shortsea service is a natural next step in our growth process on the Norwegian West Coast, offering an even more competitive and sustainable connection to the rest of the world, with direct connections to our multimodal network.”

Samskip operates one of Europe’s largest multimodal container logistics systems for moving containers door-to-door between over 30 countries from the United Kingdom and Ireland to Russia, Scandinavia, Poland, the Baltic States, Finland, Iceland, the north to Spain, Portugal, Italy, Austria, Greece, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia in the south and central Europe.
