Port of Koper is ready for coming upswing

Completed expansion of container terminal at Port of Koper
 

By starting to operate with the fourth Post-Panamax crane system in the Slovenian seaport of Koper, the expansion of the container terminal is now completed. In a press release Luka Koper d.d. announced that from now on capacities to handle up to 600,000 TEU per year will be available. The new container cranes allow handling vessels of the 8,000 TEU-classification.

The container terminal at Port of Koper has now 596 metres of quay facilities, equipped with four Panamax- and four Post-Panamax cranes. The storage capacity amounts to 19,000 TEU and includes 300 connections for reefer units. In the year 2008 a total volume of 353,880 TEU was handled at Koper. In the period between January and September 2009 the container volume was 6 per cent below last year’s level.
