Bertschi Group shows strict cost discipline
Bulk chemical logistician Bertschi recons with continuous pressure on freight rates Bertschi Group encounters the difficult circumstances of the European market for bulk chemicals logistics with a combination of quality, security and strict cost discipline. Managing Director Hans-Jörg Bertschi expects the tense situation for transport prices to continue throughput the year 2010. Nonetheless he wants to adapt the offer to the changing customer requirements. In addition to the measure to maintain the high safety standards, the entrepreneur plans to set up a third location in Russia and a presence in the Middle East. In 2009 Bertschi Group, based in Dürrenäsch, Switzerland, recorded a stable number of transport orders compared to the previous year. Lower transport prices and currency effects reduced sales revenues by 12 per cent. “Thanks to the strict cost management we got off cheaply“, Mr. Bertschi said in a workforce meeting.
