Q 1/2013 air freight volume at Vienna Airport is 8 per cent below last year’s level
Vienna Airport registered considerable losses in air cargo volume in the first quarter of 2013. Transhipment volume (air freight and trucking) declined 8 per cent to 60,036 tonnes in the period from January to March 2013 compared with the same period last year. In March they handled goods of a total weight of 23,810 tonnes, meaning a 4.2 per cent decline, according to the traffic figures Flughafen Wien AG disclosed at the beginning of this week.
The number of passengers at the Vienna Airport fell 1.7 per cent to 4.41 million persons in the reporting period. Flight movements declined 6.6 per cent, maximum take off-weight dropped by 5.2 per cent.
