Schachinger Logistik opens Green Warehouse in Hörsching
Total investment of EUR 10 million: Schachinger Logistik is becoming active in a brand-new “ecological model project“ on behalf of Metro Cash & Carry in Austria
On the wide area of the Schachinger Logistik group in Hörsching near Linz, the new logistics facility with outstanding characteristics in terms of ecology and economy properties is inaugurated today. In detail it is a Green Warehouse, which the specialist of logistics industry will manage on behalf of the major customer Metro Cash & Carry Austria with immediate effect.
In recent months Schachinger Logistik has implemented total investment of EUR 10 million to build a logistics facility with special attributes in terms of environmental compatibility. The result is a building with around 10,000 m² of hall space and 14 meters height for 4,500 food and nonfood items to be stored in the temperature range of 12 to 18 degrees Celsius. At this new facility, which is connected to a high-level rail network, the company provides services in the fields of storage, order picking, distribution and cross-docking. About 30 new jobs will be created.
Metro Cash & Carry Austria takes Schachinger Logistik’s „Green Logistics“ concept as a reason to start a long-term cooperation with the SCM traditional family enterprise. The existing cooperation in the field of warehouse logistics with a service provider at the location in Wiener Neudorf has ended. However, the company concerned will find further employment in certain segments.
In autumn 2013 Schachinger Logistik present themselves as specialist provider of industry logistics with a focus on brands & fresh goods, pharmaceutical/healthcare, high tech, automotive, building materials and agricultural goods. The company operates 15 locations in Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Croatia with logistics facilities of some 200,000 m² of total hall space. Their own truck fleet includes 100 trailer trucks. Their 520 employees have recently achieved EUR 181 million in annual sales.
