Special award marks industry response to Covid-19 at Supply Chain Excellence Awards 2020

The Supply Chain Excellence Awards 2020 presented a very special award during a virtual broadcast this afternoon marking the response to the Covid-19 pandemic by supply chain professionals.

This year the Logistics Manager Award for Outstanding Achievement was a collective award to mark the ‘Supply Chain Industry Response to Covid-19’.

In the virtual ceremony, to be broadcast at 7pm, Logistics Manager Editor Christopher Walton said: “The Outstanding Achievement Award marks something remarkable… something unprecedented…something we have never seen before.

“This year the supply chain industry was stretched to its very limit. A global pandemic challenged the effectiveness of supply chains to deliver. Here in the UK, we stayed at home, we protected the NHS, and we saved lives. All of this was supported by supply chains.

“The entire industry rose to the challenge. It delivered vital PPE and medicines to hospitals in need…It kept the supermarket shelves stacked despite extraordinary demand… and it kept the economy going delivering to doorsteps during lockdown.

“The professionalism shown by the sector in the face of enormous adversity was excellence personified. We felt that this feat needed recognition in itself, and this special award marks just that.”

When safe to do so, the award will be used to mark achievements from throughout the sector.
