St Albans SRFI Rail takes a step forward
A 419 hectare rail freight interchange near St Albans has taken a step forward, after the St Alban City and District Council’s appeal against the project was turned down by The Court of Appeal.
The council had challenged the secretary of state for communities and local government’s decision to grant planning permission for the interchange at Park Street near St Albans. The High Court dismissed the council’s challenge on 13 March.
In his decision, Rt. Hon Lord Justice Sullivan said that he did not believe that the grounds of appeal put forward by the council have a real prospect of success.
The council has a few days to decide whether to request that the decision is reconsidered at an oral hearing before the Court of Appeal.
