Star Lines of Donau Star BG: First RoRo unloading in Ennshafen

The RoRo service on the Passau-Ennshafen-Vidin-Ruse route is operated by Donau Star BG EOOD in cooperation with Schachinger Logistik and Slovakia Freight

Following the successful launch of the RoRo service on the Passau-Ennshafen-Vidin-Ruse route, operated by the shipping company Donau Star BG last summer, the first transhipment in the Ennshafen port was carried out on 11 December. They unloaded a Felbermayr mobile crane weighing 95 tonnes, and with 20 metres in length.

Its journey started in Bucharest. Following the approach on the road, the mobile crane was transhipped in the Danube port of Turnu Magurele (Romaina) and unloaded in Ennshafen six days later. Together with accompanying vehicles the mobile crane will continue its journey on the road to its final destination – the premises of the Felbermayr company in Linz.

The entire order was carried out flawlessly and the transport on the waterway saved an enormous amount of money for the customer, as compared to road transport.
The RoRo service from Germany and Austria to Bulgaria and Romania has many advantages for shippers of oversized and overweight machine parts or plants: neither special permits must be organised, nor accompanying safety measures for heavy and special transport on the road. For heavy rolling loads, also the costs for mobile cranes, necessary in conventional transport methods, can be saved.
