Ten new units for Evergreen Group
Taiwanese shipping group Evergreen orders construction of ten 8,000-TEU container vessels After years of restraint the Taiwanese Evergreen Group starts an initiative to modernise and expand its vessel fleet. The shipping company ordered ten container vessels with a capacity of 8,000 TEU each from Samsung Heavy Industries in Taiwan. The first newbuilding will be delivered in 2012. The Management of the Evergreen Group announces more orders for vessels in a press release. More details are to be released after conclusion of the current negotiations with several Asian shipyards. The ten ordered vessels are L-type ships. Every unit of them has a length of 334.8 metres and is 45.8 metres wide. The cruise speed of 24.5 knots (around 50 kilometres per hour) is reached with especially fuel-saving drive technology. Quelle: LogEastics |
