TX Logistik increases frequency between Leipzig and Verona

Responding to the increasing demand for rail transport capacity on the route between Leipzig and Verona, TX Logistik AG is increasing the number of round trips on this route from four to five per week from 16 April. “This reflects our customers’ desire for a higher frequency,” explains Norbert Rekers, Regional Sales Director Central Europe at TX Logistik.

Up to 37 load units can be carried on the train. Bulk and tank containers as well as swap bodies and semi-trailers are accepted for transport. Most of them are filled with vehicle parts, chemical products and consumer goods. TX Logistik does not only take over the traction, but also the marketing of the transport capacities.

The railway logistics company added the service to its timetable in February 2017. It connects the DUSS terminal in Leipzig with the Quadrante Europa terminal in Verona. “Our medium-term goal is to increase the number of weekly round trips to six by this autumn,” emphasises Norbert Rekers. The potential to shift transports from road to rail was far from exploited on this route.

TX Logistik was founded in 1999 as a private rail transport company and has a strong European network. Around 500 employees generated annual sales of EUR 250 million in 2017. Since January 2017, TX Logistik has been wholly owned by Mercitalia Logistics S.p.A., a subsidiary of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane.
