Vienna Airport: No big air freight investments for the time being

Growth strategy and modernisation investments to safeguard the future of Vienna International Airport:

“A growth strategy und modernisation investments are the keys to safeguarding the future of Vienna Airport and maintaining our competitive position. We need to provide better service for our customers, and cut costs”, the new Management board of Flughafen Wien AG, Dr. Günther Ofner (CFO) and Mag. Julian Jäger (COO), announced the implementation of measures to rise productivity by at least 20 per cent before 2015, at their initial press conference, “in order the enterprise will be able to shoulder the planned investments and finance the growth course without a sizeable increase in debt“.

Up to 2015 the Vienna Airport plans to make investments of more than EUR 600 million in the terminal extension VIE-Skylink and modernisation projects, including the adaptation of Terminal 2, the runway infrastructure and other projects. There are is no big budget reserved for projects to expand or modernise facilities at the air cargo centre at the time being, as CFO Günther Ofner disclosed to the Austrian transport magazine Österreichische Verkehrszeitung.
