Yusen Logistics extends its healthcare activities in Europe

Yusen Logistics announces plans to further expand its logistics service offerings in the pharmaceutical & healthcare industry, with the launch of two major new projects in the Benelux. Beside the expansion of the healthcare activities in Melsele (Belgium) the company will build a new Healthcare site in Roosendaal, The Netherlands.

The existing Yusen Logistics Antwerp Distribution Center (ADC), located in Melsele, Belgium, is currently the central European hub within the European Yusen Logistics Pharmaceutical Super Highway system, moving over 2 million pallets of pharmaceuticals per annum. This facility currently features a 18,000m² bonded GDP licensed pharmaceutical warehouse, including 1,500 cold store pallet positions (2-8°C).

Preparations have now started to extend the ADC facility with an adjoining warehouse of approximately 8,000m², divided between cold storage (2-8°C) and ambient storage (15-25°C). This new build, fully licensed state-of-the art pharmaceutical warehouse will open for business towards the end of 2017.

In response to increasing demand for its premium quality pharmaceutical & healthcare logistics solutions from customers in the Netherlands, Yusen Logistics will be starting work on construction in the near future of a new 11,225m² pharmaceutical facility at the strategically located Borchwerf II industrial zone near Roosendaal in the Netherlands. This new facility will consist of cold storage (2-8°C) and ambient (15-25°C) zones and will open for business in the first quarter of 2018.

Managing Director of Yusen Logistics Benelux, Piet Boogaard, comments: “Both projects underline the importance of our strategy to further grow our healthcare activities in Europe. We are grateful to our customers for their trust and confidence in our services, and I look forward to working together to make these new projects a great success.”
