„Express rail shipping“ for Tridonic-parts from China to Austria

Cutting-edge rail connection: Under the direction of DB Schenker Logistics, Tridonic containers need 17 days for the route from Shenzhen to Vorarlberg

DB Schenker Logistics carries out rail transports of containers from China to Austria for the internationally active company Tridonic in Vorarlberg every week and at the same time they do something for the environment. This happens twice as fast as in maritime transport and at half the price of airfreight and the goods get to Europe via the Eurasian landbridge. In only 17 days, DB Schenker transports the containers ex the Chinese port city of Shenzhen to Europe – from terminal to terminal including all customs formalities.

The environmentally-friendly DB Schenker Logistics container train runs along the southern route through Kazakhstan to Ulm. From there the goods are transported directly to the Austrian city of Lauterach. In total each trip for the globally active industrial company, with manufacturing facilities in Europe and China, comprises about 14.000 km.

„Handling runs so smoothly that we are already thinking about an expansion. And apropos of nothing we can save up to 95 percent in CO2 emissions with DB Schenker”, says Alexander Kieslinger, Global Logistics Manager with Tridonic.

Importers as well as exporters can significantly reduce runtimes with this connection, even for large quantities of goods and so their supply chain from and to Asia becomes more effective and more cost-efficient. The container train also scores with its reliability.
